Don't Wanna Let Guests Tap That Glass? Try One of These Make-Us-Kiss Alternatives

The Save to Loverly button makes it easy to save your dream wedding inspiration and vendors to your planning dashboard.
If you're an introverted or modest bride, or just don't like the sound of silverware on glasses, the glass-clinking-to-make-the-couple-kiss tradition might be one you'd rather skip. But guests are still going to want to see you smooch! Meet them halfway and opt for one of these unique make-us-kiss alternatives instead. Make-Us-Kiss Alternatives

1Make them kiss first.

If they want to see you publicly peck, they’re going to have to go first! So have guests step up to the head table and demonstrate the kiss they’d like you to recreate. Whether it’s a romantic dip or a Notebook-style run-jump-MAKEOUT, you have to imitate it.

2Get them to sing for it.

When they want you to kiss, guests can stand up and sing a few lines from a song with the word “love” in it. Encouraging them to perform as a table will give them great ice breaker, and it’s fun to watch.

3Invite them to roll an oversized die.

Make an oversized die and put numbers on four of the sides and lips on two of the sides. During the reception, guests can step up and roll. If they roll the lips, the newlyweds kiss. But if they roll a number, they have to kiss that many other people. (Just on the cheek, of course!) You can also bring two oversized dice and have pairs of guests roll together. If they roll an even number, the newlyweds kiss; odd numbers, they kiss each other.

4Have them ring bells.

If you like the glass-tapping tradition but are using plastic serving ware at your reception (or just want to avoid broken wine glasses), set little bells at each place setting that guests can ring when they’re ready for some kissyface. If you decide to use one of these alternatives, be sure to leave a card on each table letting your guests know what it’ll take to see you smooch!
