4 Reasons to Consider Hiring a Wedding Planner

Discover, manage, and track all of your vendor communication, contracts, and timelines in one place.
Hiring a wedding planner sounds so fancy, so you may think it's something only socialites or people in movies do. But the fact is, plenty of down-to-earth, non-royal couples hire wedding experts to help with their weddings. If you're thinking about hiring a planner, here are four times when it may be in your best interest. balloon_bridal_party, hiring a wedding planner, hire wedding planner Photo by Leila Brewster Photography 1. You have a very specific vision for your wedding...and no idea how to make it happen. If you've dreamed of your wedding for years and know exactly what you want, you may want to bring in a pro to make your wedding decor dream a reality. Recreating all the wedding details you see online (even DIY ones!) can be tough, especially if you have no experience with event design or planning. 2. "Busy" doesn't even begin to describe your packed schedule and you're not excited about fitting in wedding planning. Some people love wedding planning and make room for it in their schedules, but not every couple wants (or is able) to make perfecting their wedding details a part-time job. If you're the kind of person who prefers to pay others to do the things you dislike or aren't great at, then hire a pro. You'll have to make room in your budget, but if you can afford it (or if hiring someone gives you the ability to pick up some extra income), then it's money well spent. 3. You're planning long-distance. Whether you're planning a destination wedding, or just planning a wedding in your hometown from your new city, trying to plan without being physically present can be a huge challenge. Having someone there who knows the best local vendors can save you tons of time, tons of stress, and a good amount of money. (It also means you won't have to figure out where to ship dozens of DIY projects and welcome bags the week of your wedding.) 4. You're worried about sticking to your budget. Though it seems counterintuitive, making room in your budget for a planner may actually help you stick to your budget. Pro planners often get discounts on things like linens or rentals, know the best ways to stretch your dollar, and can be the voice of reason when you're thinking of splurging on something that isn't in the budget. So if you can dedicate 10 to 15 percent of your wedding budget to a planner up front, it can save you money in the long run.
