This California Couple’s Elegant Nuptials Is Seriously Filled with Love
Meet Our Real Wedding Couple Kristen and Jonathan.
This lovely attorney couple from California met at a party in Los Angeles. Jonathan Dennis knew the judge that Kristen Marquis Dennis was chatting with, and used the opportunity to introduce himself. The rest is history and their friend became their wedding day officiant!
How he asked.
Jonathan popped the question on their one year anniversary. He “gifted” Kristen with a spa day at a gorgeous cliff location overlooking the ocean. She walked into the room she thought she would be having her appointment in to find the room covered with rose petals, (her favorite) chocolate covered strawberries on the table, and Smart Water (also her favorite) in the ice bucket!
He was standing on the balcony in a suit, music playing, fireplace crackling, while she stood their in gym clothes, thinking, “Wow! This spa really goes all out for their massages…”
Their wedding day vision.
For Kristen and Jonathan, this day was all about symbolism and they packed every detail with a little love. Lavender was tossed during the recessional walk because it represents love and admiration, all the food served during the wedding consisted of their favorites, and the DJ played songs with special significance, including a few cords of the University of Southern California’s
“Trojan Fight” song (Jonathan’s alma mater).
Kristen wore a customized Romona Keveza dress.
Her something blue were the stunning, sapphire earrings Jonathan gave her for Christmas.
Check out her beautiful sparkler!
Carried by these two little sweeties.
Kristen is a big fan of jumpsuits, but rather than wear one herself, she asked her ‘maids sport the classy look.
And, the boys rocked classy black shades and ties.
Even their adorable puppy, Bevo, got dressed up for the big event! Swoon!
Kristen with her mother, Cheryl Marquis.
And her Dad, who gave her away.
Their officiant was the very same judge that introduced her to Jonathan at the Los Angeles party!
Floral details were really important to Kristen and she totally nailed the “elegant, dramatic, and one-of-a-kind look,” she dreamed of.
Especially with their lovely, white floral archway!
The reception was held outdoors in a tent hired by Amazing Tents.
Details that represented them as a couple were key. So they opted for a two-tiered Nothing Bundt wedding cake because Jonathan’s favorite dessert is chocolate bundt.
…and a late night s’mores bar for Kristen!
Then they spent the rest of the night dancing, to their personalized DJ soundtrack.
Kristen and Jonathan’s wedding advice
Their advice to nearlyweds.
Kristen wants every couple planning their wedding to know: “Set a budget and stick to it. It is too easy to go over budget. My wedding planner told me to double the cost of the venue and food to get an idea of what a wedding would cost at a specific location, which was accurate and very helpful when selecting our venue. Research your vendors and their vendors. And have fun — being engaged is meant to be an incredibly exciting, happy time!”
