7 Ways to Host a Wedding That's Bursting With Love

Customize your own event checklist with due dates, personal reminders, and timelines for all your wedding to do’s.
If you and your other half are tying the knot this Valentine's Day (or you're eyeing up Feb 14, 2017), you need to nab some of these seven splendid, Valentines Day-inspired details. We totally think these stunning pinks, reds, and cremes could work for any other time of the year, too. 1. Add some aphrodisiacs to the menu. Not everyone knows this but figs are one of nature's sensual, love foods. They're associated with sexuality in almost every culture, which makes them the perfect flavor addition to your wedding day feast. Adam and Eve wore clothes made from fig leaves, it was rumored to be Cleopatra's favorite fruit, and they were associated with both Greek gods of fertility, Dionysus and Priapus.

2. Make your cake oh-so-sweet. In color psychology, pink represents hope, tenderness, and is believed to inspire warm, comforting feelings. We totally agree! For a cake that looks as lovely as it is delicious, decorate it with ribbons of pink and beautiful blooms.

3. Don't play into cliches. When you're planning a love-themed big day, don't feel restricted to just pinks and reds. For a look that is beautiful and fresh, alternate with cream, soft blush, red wine, deep purple, and moss green. We love how crisp these scarlet colored petals look against light wood and the white candles.

4. Take advantage of lace. Weddings and lace go hand-in-hand, but don't just reserve this pretty fabric for your dress alone. Romantic, boho, and rustic brides should all decorate their stationery in it for a look that is utterly sweet and totally on-point.

5. Nab this romantic wedding day style. For a stunning "I do" look — like this beautiful dress by Sarah Janks— opt for a simple silhouette. It'll give you the flexibility to play with statement details like invisible mesh, cutouts, low backs, low necklines, and sweet embellishments, without being over the top.

6. Channel your inner goddess. Whether you want to rock an updo or let your hair down, keep your locks in sync with your loved-up theme with a Grecian inspired twist or series of gorgeous braids.

7. Put a crown on it. If you've always wanted to feel like a princess on your big day, go for it! Adorn your wedding outfit with a beautiful crown or tiara. We'll always love the whimsical flower headpiece, but for an alternative look, try a jewel-studded wreathe band. If you want something a little more subtle, this half crown is serious stunner.

8. Embrace the blending of styles. Mixing colors and styles is going to be the new matchy-matchy. It started with the announcement of not one, but two, 2016 Pantone colors, and now it's everywhere. Mismatched bridesmaids dresses is nothing new, but it's definitely a great way to honor your 'maids individual style and let them feel amazing.
