It's easy to fall in love with dozens of wedding dresses when browsing online (trust me on that one!), but shopping with a real budget in your head can make your options feel surprisingly limited. But there's no rule that says a great wedding dress has to cost a small fortune. If you have the money to spend, get what you love...but if you don't, or just don't want to splurge, then you definitely you shouldn't. If you're worried you'll never find a dress you love on your budget, here are three tips for saving money on your wedding dress.

1. Shop white bridesmaids dresses.

Most bridesmaids dresses come in every color imaginable...including white, ivory, champagne, and blush. With so many amazing bridesmaids styles coming out each season, it's quite likely that you could find a bridesmaid dress that fits perfectly with your vision for your wedding dress and is a fraction of the cost. (Don't believe me? Check out some of the white bridesmaids dresses in the Lover.ly shop!) If the bridesmaids dresses don't feel fancy enough to you, use other accessories (like a glam beaded cover-up or an embellished sash) to make it feel more special.

2. Hire a seamstress to customize a more budget-friendly dress.

If you find a dress that is within your price range but isn't exactly what you had in mind, having a seamstress add straps, lace, or beading can be quite affordable and can help you get the look you want.

3. Buy a used dress.

Most wedding dresses are only worn once and a lot of brides just don't attach sentimental value to their wedding gowns. But one woman's oh-so-gorgeous trash is another woman's treasure! If you find a designer gown you love, try it on (or try on similar styles by that designer) to figure out your size, and then set up an alert with a pre-owned wedding dress website to be notified immediately when one becomes available.
