5 Super Romantic Ways to Celebrate Your Anniversary

Customize your own event checklist with due dates, personal reminders, and timelines for all your wedding to do’s.
Relive the memories.
Something as simple as flipping through your wedding album or watching the highlight reel of your wedding video can bring on a flood of emotions in remembering that amazing day. You two may even have other items (like a wedding time capsule) or cards you wrote each other that you can revisit. Going back in time will make you appreciate how far you have come and revive the sentimental impact of your big day.
Choose a special spot.
If you decide to go out for dinner, dessert or drinks on your anniversary, choose a place with meaning—perhaps the place you got engaged, where you had your first date or anywhere that has some significance. Even if you go to the frozen yogurt shop where you had your first kiss, you'll feel a sense of nostalgia that will make the day even more special than it already is. (Fanciness is not a requirement for romance!)
Get away.
Sometimes, getting out of town is the most romantic thing you can do—especially if you don't get to take vacations often or have super demanding jobs. Spending some time away from it all will give you some much-needed alone time and allow you to bond without the stress of everyday life.
Start a tradition.
You may consider creating a ritual around your anniversary like, for instance, buying a nice bottle of wine each year that you can open on the next anniversary, or writing and sending each other postcards (if you traveled somewhere for the occasion). Having a tradition to look forward to will bond you even closer and make you anticipate the next celebration.
Write new vows.
Your wedding vows are forever, of course, but it could be sweet to create new ones tailored to the previous year, and the ones to come. Maybe you've made a major life change over the past year (like moving cities) or you anticipate a big one soon (if you're expecting a child). Writing out your commitment to each other based on your lives now will be a moving experience and can remind you of the deep love you have.
