Happy Friday, Loverlies! From surprise celebrity engagements to the cutest baby bumps, here’s what we were buzzing about this week:
1. Baby bump alert!
Former New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter and supermodel wife, Hannah Jeter, are expecting their first bundle of joy! She spilled their love story on The Players’ Tribune and wrote,
“Whatever her name is, I know she’ll run circles around him. We want our kids’ lives to be as ‘normal’ as possible. They’re going to be born into such an extraordinary situation. They’re going to have to be some strong little people. We don’t want them to be defined by their dad’s name — for them, we want him to just be ‘Dad.’” Congrats, you lovebirds!
2. She’s sporting a ring on that finger!
All Time Low drummer, Rian Dawson, popped the question to his longtime girlfriend, aka Season 3 winner of “The Voice,” Cassadee Pope! The sweet duo has been dating since 2010, when Pope was the lead singer of pop-rock band, Hey Monday. The star flashed her cushion-cut square diamond at her first ever Grammy Awards this past Sunday.
3. Baby? Make that babies!
Country star, Thomas Rhett, took to Insta to share some big news… “We are so happy to announce that we are pregnant and we are in the process of adopting a child from Africa! Safe to say life is about to get crazy!” he posted.
He and his wife, Lauren Akins, first met in their kindergarten classroom and the sweet duo just celebrated their four-year-anniversary back in October. They told People that during a week-long safari trip in Tanzania, Lauren started feeling sick and was convinced it was food poisoning. The lovebirds hadstopped trying to conceive on their own once they started the process of adopting a child from Africa. But now, they’ll be welcoming two babies into their lives. Major well wishes are in order for this growing family!
4. A lifesaving Valentine’s gift.
Britney Stewart was unfortunately diagnosed with kidney disease and her disorder drained all her energy. When she was added to the transplant list, her college sweetheart and hubby, Matt, volunteered in a heartbeat. Britney had a rare blood type of AB positive and it just so happened that he was the perfect match. Matt told KSLA, ““I pretty much put myself on the top of the list and said, ‘You know what? Let’s go ahead and knock myself out of the way.’ I tell everybody, ‘I’ve already given her my heart and my money. Might as well give her my kidney, too.’” The lovebirds underwent successful surgery and on the mend at home. We’re wishing you both speedy recovery!

5. There’s a new Bachelorette in town.
Ok, so we’ll admit we’re a little bummed out because we thought Rachel L. Lindsay and Nick Viall actually made a pretty cute match. But ABC dropped a major spoiler Monday night on Jimmy Kimmel and revealed that the 31-year-old attorney will be the next leading lady. We’re super psyched that she’ll have her own shot at love. Not to mention, ABC is making huge strides in the right direction by having the first African-American lead on “The Bachelorette” in its 14 years of existence. Bachelor Nation seemed quite happy with the network’s choice too…
My heart is full of joy for you Rachel. Congrats!! You will be one hell of a Bachelorette!! Beauty & class.. you have it all!! TheBachelor
