The Beauty Must-Haves You NEED for Every Type of Honeymoon

Figuring out what to pack for your honeymoon—especially when you’re in the throes of wedding planning—can seem overwhelming. Between deciding what to wear and which essentials are actually essential for the trip, you’re probably already making a list and mulling over how it’s all going to fit in your suitcase.

To help you out, we’ve broken down the must-have products you really do need, depending on what type of honeymoon you’re going on. At the very least, these tips will take some of the guess-work out of packing your toiletries.

If you’re going on a beach getaway:

Be waterproof: Let’s be honest, you may want to wear makeup during your honeymoon. (Hello, photos!) But you definitely don’t want to look like you’re wearing makeup—nobody wants those telltale raccoon eyes post snorkeling. Try Blinc Mascara, which beauty pros love because it will stay on when you need it to, but it’s easy to wash off with soap.

Get glowing: Give yourself the gift of a fake tan before you leave so you’re not tempted to bake in the sun while you’re away. Norvell Sunless Tanning offers a great line of DIY products—and it offers separate formulas for your face so you won’t breakout.

Stay bronzed: Keep that sun goddess look going your entire trip with a bronzer that’s subtle enough to allow you to build color as the days pass. Our fave is Benefit’s Hoola bronzing powder, which works on pretty much every skin tone.

If you’re going on an adventure:

Manage your sweat: If you’re going to be in extreme temps and want to stay sweat-free (or as sweat-free as possible), check out strong anti-perspirants that can keep wetness away. Sweat Block towelettes, for instance, literally block sweat for up to seven days.

Keep bugs at bay: Bring Citronella oil with you to help you stay bug-bite free. An alternative to DDT-filled bug spray, the oil can also act an as a natural antiseptic.

Clean up: If you’re staying in jungle lodges or camping, you’ll want to bring some cleansing wipes to keep yourself feeling fresh and clean. Yes to Cucumbers Facial Wipes smell awesome, plus they’re perfect for getting the grime off.

If you’re going to a winter wonderland:

Hydrate your face: Cold temperatures can zap your skin’s moisture, causing dryness and chapped cheeks. Be sure your skincare routine provides you with enough hydration pre-honeymoon and pack products that will keep dryness away. We love Tata Harper’s line, which boasts awesome hydration properties—plus, you can actually get a full “try me” kit of the products you’ll need for only $11. (Pefect for travel!)

Stop chapped lips: There’s nothing worse than flaky lips when you’re supposed to be on a romantic vacation. Pick up Sephora Collection’s Color Reveal Lip Balm, which will keep your pout hydrated and provides just a hint of color.

Tame those locks: Extreme cold can make your tresses freak out—namely, get crazy frizzy. Keep flyaways and unmanageable mane in check with Davine’s OI/OIL Absolute Beautifying Potion. Just a couple drops on damp hair does the trick.

Make sure to pack smart for the big getaway, Loverlies. The last thing you want is to get stranded without your products!
