Everyone likes a good New Year's Eve party. The dawning of a new year is a great time to celebrate with family and friends, so why not take advantage of the evening's good cheer and host a super secret NYE wedding? Well, that's exactly what San Diego couple Adriana and Jaxon did last December...and they did it for less than $3,000!
The high-school sweethearts, who had been together for seven years before they decided to tie the knot, got married in a civil ceremony on December 31, 2013 before heading over to Balboa Park in downtown San Diego for some photos with their nearest and dearest. The bride wore a beautiful BCBG cocktail dress, and the groom looked sharp in a suit from Topman. Adriana and Jaxon also hosted a low-key lunch at The Prado complete with a Whole Foods Chantilly wedding cake.
So why did they decide to throw an impromptu wedding?
While home in San Diego for Thanksgiving my now-husband and I, after being asked the question, "So have you guys set a date yet?" one too many times, decided to plan a simple wedding for December 31st. With our high school friends in town for the holidays and most of our college friends already planning to visit for New Year's Eve anyway, it seemed very practical. So we started contacting and inviting our guests over the course of the next month...
We absolutely love how Adriana describes her favorite part of the day: "The best moment was when we said 'I do.' The outfits, flowers, and lunch were all very nice, but it was the $90 civil ceremony that stood out." So sweet!

Happy anniversary to these two thrifty lovebirds!
