There's so much to love about that vintage wedding vibe. From the intricate lace and wooden details to the delicate vintage decor and romantic lighting, we just can't get enough of that good old-fashioned style. But there's something no one tells you about these chic affairs: they're not exactly super easy to pull off. After all, if you're not an antiques collector, you probably don't have wedding-worthy vintage decor just laying around. The good news? You have options. Here are 3 ways to integrate vintage wedding details to get that vintage look for your big day.
Start collecting those antiques
Maybe you imagine vintage frames hanging by your ceremony space or maybe you swoon over the idea of antique books topping your reception tables. No matter what your heart desires, start collecting those items, stat.
Set up weekend dates with your partner to go check out flea markets and visit antique stores for a hands-on experience.
That way you'll be preparing for the big day while bonding with your beau. But beware: antiques can be pricey. You may think that you're cutting costs by doing the dirty work yourself, but you could easily end up busting your budget while picking out all that amazing old-school decor. Plus, you'll need to set aside plenty of time to get everything you need, so start your hunt several months in advance of your big day.
Keep in mind that once you start a collection, you'll need someone where to keep your finds before the wedding.
And, after the big day, it's yours to keep forever — which has its pros and cons. Once you say "I do," your antiques can double as decor for your home. But if you’re not in the market for 25 vintage candelabras (or you just don't have the space), you'll have to find a way to sell or repurpose them. Consider storage, too — make sure you have somewhere to keep your finds before the wedding.
